XBMC and MK802 IIIS

Postby Kapz786 » Tue Jan 22, 2013 2:51 pm

Does anyone have XBMC successfully running on this device?

I can install it and run it without and issues however when trying to access a USB stick I have plugged in via the "USB Host" it will not detect it and let me choose it as a source.

When using the file explorer software I can view the USB without any problems

Tried this today...

http://www.rikomagic.co.uk/downloads/xb ... 130110.apk

It works, this version does not use hardware decoder though it uses the built in player.

The standard Android release from http://xbmc.org/download/ runs also on the MK802IIIS... this does not use the Android player.

I'm pretty sure theres a version available that supports hardware decode for the RK3066 devices now, does anyone know which one it is?

hmm looks like thats using the standard Android player... true xbmc with HW decode allows the xbmc transport and menu to appear overlayed on top of the video. This seems like it just initiates the Android player.

Looks like a bit of a solution - uses MX player instead of stock android player

If you need a screen without black part of a screen!

In the guisettings.xml (ANDROID folder then xbmc...) there is an entry "Window" the original code is:

<height>480</height>
<width>720</width>

If you change this to:
<height>720</height>
<width>1280</width>
Or
<height>1080</height>
<width>1920</width>

and save the file and start XBMC in the System -> Video Hardware screen you will be able to switch to windowded mode (just try the up and down arrows).
XBMC will pop out of the top of your screen and the cursor will be of by 48 pixels, but if you now ""Hide" the taskbar, XBMC will be full screen,720 x 1280 or 1920 x 1080!

And you can change a screen with slash / or back slash \
exit - S

Hi
I'm new to the forum and recently got a Rikomagic MK802iiiS. So far I am really pleased, although I have had to re-flah the firmware due to holding on the bootscreen.
I have tried to install XBMC. I have downloaded the app. On the install screen I can only select 'cancel' (I cannot select the 'install' option). I have managed to install on a Nexus 7 and Galaxy S3 without any problems.

I have unknown sources ticked. Any ideas on anything else I can try to get XBMC installed?

Thanks !
