Problems with older Philips 42" LCD TV

Postby wibblenz » Fri Sep 27, 2013 11:36 am

Hope someone can help me here. I can connect my new MK802IIIS 8G (running 4.2) to a newer el-cheapo LCD TV and it works in any HDMI mode but it won't work on our lounge TV which is a 2007 Philips Cineos 42" LCD. In the Philips manual it states is is 720i and 1080i capable but not 720P/1080P. Howver it is happy running on our Home Theatre PC and when switched to the input it says it has recognised the signal from the PC as '720P' Presu, ably it is downscaling the video to display it.

I've tried changing the HDMI mode to all of the possible settings using the newer TV and it will display a garbled picture (but unusable) on the Philips on anything 720 and below but nothing at all on 1080/1280.

Any ideas? I've tried all the settings on the Philips and even downloaded a newer firmware and installed that (latest is 2008 wow) without success.
I thought that I could try a different ROM - any thoughts as to one that might be suitable?

Thanks in advance
Andy

And you can try to connect the mini pc direct with the TV, do not use the HDMI cable.

Hello,

I had the same problem with my Philips 42PFL5603D.
A garbled screen with HDMI mode 720, but in 1080@60Hz the screen is perfect. I didn't use a HDMI cable.

Hope this will help.
