Recovery won't work

Postby LaDjA » Sat May 30, 2015 4:19 pm

Hello
I have a Rikomagic MK 802 IIIs/8G (B), which has stopped working (gets stuck on boot screen).
I'm trying to re-flash it, but cannot even start the process, as my PC will not recognize the device.
I tried two different computers, a few USB cables, and over 30 attempts in total of putting the thing into Recovery Mode, and plugging in the cable. Nothing seems to work.
I also tried connecting it to power (i.e. having a cable in the DC port - both ones connected to the wall and ones connected to another USB port on the computer, before I press the button and connect the other cable to the OTG). It also failed, but just to make sure - this is not the way I was supposed to do it, right? That is, the only cable that's supposed to be connected is in the OTG port, after pressing the button.

Any idea on how I can make this work? Or is my RKM dead?

thanks,
Tal

Press recovery button first, then insert the USB cable to the OTG port.
Here is a video for reference. It should be clearer.

Of course - this is precisely what I did. The computer does not recognize the device (it never appears under "Other Devices" in the Device Manager).
Any idea of how to solve this?

Nope. Nothing.
And yes - this is exactly what I did. Connect USB cable to computer (not to RKM). Press "recovery", hold it pressed. Insert USB to OTG port. Wait (varying amounts of time - from 0 seconds to 1 minute, and pretty much everything in between). Release.
Nothing.

OK. Is there any way to check if it is, indeed the connections on the OTG port? If so - is there anything to do with it?
Are there any other ideas for why this might be?

Thanks

Unfortunately, I don't think there's any way for me to reach the seller at this point.
I emailed customer support, so hopefully they'd be able to assist.
If anyone else has any other creative ideas - I'm open.

Thanks.
