Watch out with the 1080p Rom, there have been reports of broken sticks as a result.
He is likely to be too hot.

What would be the difference between the ROM you linked to, and the one that's in the works? Also, overheating seems to be quite a bit of an issue already, even with moderate use. I am concerned this will be an even bigger concern with 1080p. Luckily I've modded mine with some neat copper heatsinks :) But I might even need a fan also..

Great news, do you have an ETA of the firmware?
Will it fix (some of) the issues with the device?

Yes - an ETA would be very nice! I'm working on writing a review of this product but in it's current form...pretty much pointless to even write about: "The good news is that's it's pretty fast and works well for most games and browsing. Resolutions is capped to 720p with official firmware and video playback is pretty much useless"

There is no ETA, because no such thing exists in the community driven software development. It's ready when it's ready, if it's ever ready.
It kind of only makes sense to speak about an ETA when a bunch of paid devs work hard to meet some deadline, but when a guy hacks on stuff for fun in his spare time, he's highly unlikely to have a schedule of any sort.
Just write your review, and let the readers know what you've liked, and what you havn't.

Will this be compatible with the new WiFi chip? (AP6210)

i've been using this edition for some days now. although Movie playback do stutter like always. it looks better in full 1080p.

I have also enjoyed Onlive games in full 1080p which again is better. I have not personally found issues with this one, i dare even say wifi seems better (201305* serial)

If just we had a fullblown hardware acc. support edition for this chipset, i believe the stutter issue seen on hardware acc. programs like live wallpapers and movies would go away.

1080p is da thing! i have had no major issue with it and i keep it until something better shows.

I've tried loading the ROM withe the batch tool, but can't find which IMG file to use within the ZIP (Freaktab_MK802IV_1080p_ROM.zip) downloaded from the first post. I've tried each of 'boot.img', 'kernel.img', 'misc.img', 'recovery.img', and 'system.img' and they all result in a 'load firmware failed' error from the batch tool. Can anyone who's done this advise - maybe I've downloaded the wrong file?

Thanks,

Tony

Here's the contents of the Zip I downloaded ...

you need to use the tool included in that zip too , regular 1.7 flasher do not work with this release..
then you can select the boot, kernel, misc, recovery etc and flash them.

but!
all you need to tick off, is the kernel.img link and flash that one when you selected the file, unless you are back on 4.1, i did it on my 4.2.2 (0620) and it works fine here in 1080p now.

If I flash only the kernel, will this work for the chipset ap6210 (New)?

I had tried to flash the whole image but lost wifi so I had to revert to stock.
