Just received three units on January 26th. Noticed that the firmware shipped with the unit is newer then the one provided on this website. The build number is

Kernel Version
3.0.36+
Tue Dec 17 10:31:22 CST 2013

Build Number
RKM MK802IV-eng 4.2.2 JDQ39 eng.ant.20131217.103154 test-keys

This build is much more stable then the one provided at the link http://www.rikomagic.co.uk/support.html. I would appreciate a download link to the newer 20131217.103154 firmware ASAP.

I have the above firmware on my device (received yesterday) and video playback on XBMC is still horrible!

I receive it before 2 days. I have the same firmware. I test it with XBMC and Plex. I try with the most players but cant play smooth anything. II start to think it's the worst purchase I've made. I hope to fix it someday.

+1 would like this firmware. Fed up with my MK802IV crashing, rebooting, screen blacking out every half hr or so, hoping it might get better

I'm joining this late but I only got mine yesterday. Wish I'd have read this before ordering. Was torn between the 809 and this 802iv. Perhaps I've made the wrong decision...

Video is horrible, youtube doesn't really work (freezes and sound plays at a very slow speed (ie half the speed of the video). Iplayer and Netflix are not really watchable and other than one simple game, I cannot even get games to even play - they crash on loading or are unresponsive.

Am on a stock ROM 4.2.2 which says it is the most up to date. Excuse my ignorance at all this - I'm used to Android but not this device and it is basically really poor.

Just in case it helps:

Kernel is 3.0.36+ 29 Nov 13
RKM MK802IV-eng4.2.2 JDQ39 eng.ant.20131129.190011 test-keys
Vendor: RKM MK802IV_ANDROID4.2.2-SDK_V1.0.0_130514

Have tried to return it to seller but no joy so far. Keep being told to "check cables, don't hang it in the air, don't connect a hard drive, keep it on charge"!!!!

Any advice on whether this is even worth trying to get working would help. Thanks
