MK902II LE RK3288 Linux - First Glance!

Postby andykirby » Wed Sep 17, 2014 1:38 pm

Hi All,

After weeks of solid development we are pleased to be able to show you guys a sneak preview of the forthcoming MK902II LE mini Linux PC running Xubuntu 14.04

It's still early days but from what we have experienced so far this device is FAST! :)

The boot time is under 10 seconds (more like 5)
Display looks lovely, true 1920 x 1080p is bright and clear due to the improved GPU and memory bandwidth.
Feels very fast and responsive running a leading edge version of Ubuntu.

More details will follow shortly! Enjoy the video!

By the way sound was disabled in the video, next problem to sort out

UPDATE: Devices are ready to order NOW:

Assuming it works as well as that video makes it look (GPU acceleration etc) - and you get sound working ;) I think I might have to get me one of those...

Have you run any benchmark applications - maybe something like the phoronix test suite?

Anyway, looking good! thanks for the update.

Hi not really had time to do the benchmarks yet, although native compiling an RK3288 kernel takes under 10 minutes on the box... My other i3 laptop takes 7-8 mins so that's pretty good.

Thats pretty good - very comfortably beats my old thinkpad X200 (C2D) laptop. Will definitly be ordering one when they're available assuming it has GPU support working. I've been using an 802IIIs as my always on PC / home server for a while now, quite happy with it but perhapse time for an upgrade and the 802 can go back to being an android TV stick for my parents.

Nice piece of hardware, looks like a workhorse. In fact I can't believe that mobile application processors have evolved so much!

10 minutes is not bad, I'd say my Lenovo u260 i3 is slower than that :)?

It seems very good, highly recommend MK902II, I just notice there is another Mini TV for rk3288 named MK903V, I want to know it's made by Rikomagic factory ?

That could be a factor too, but still its amazing... I'd like to see a dmesg/boot log, as I am curious. What is the BogoMips :) Value?
