Postby Hans » Sat Aug 10, 2013 12:31 pm

4) Script stopped with the following notice

[ 4.869911] camera 33-1-gc2035_front_Z: Probe gc2035_front_Z failed

Message : Busybox v1.20.2 (Debian 1:1.20.0-7)built-in shell (ash)
Enter help for a list of build-in commands

/bin/sh: can’t access tty: job control turned off
(initramfs)

Snowblind, see above, seem to have the same problem
Any body can shed some light on my problem

Problem solved :

3) After flash and no errors, the mk802III did restart with a bunch of script on the TV monitor.
4) Script stopped with the following notice ( see above ect ect ect )

The reason Script stopped , I failed to insert the SD card with Picuntu on it prior to flashing the MK802III.

Acochy
Now i have another issue. On my Samsung HD TV the image is not centered. The edges/sides of the screen isn't visible! The image is outside the TV screen.

Yes I had the same problem on my HD Tv .
On my TV settings I had a Advanced setting menu with an option "overscan" on/off button that solved my problem.

I have an other issue you may be able to help me
I have a Rikomagic MK802III/ 4Gb . Picuntu is running but I do not able to get WIFI working . How and where do we scan and do we enter the wifi info ?
Did you get yours working ?

Picuntu on a MK802III WIFI and Ethernet not working

Postby Hans » Sat Aug 10, 2013 3:34 pm

WIFI - Working on MK802III

Not on my MK802III 4Gig version

I tried
su (password: 12qwaszx)
nano -w /etc/network/interfaces (This is where you add your Network SSID and Password)

Not on my MK802III 4Gig version

There is no interface it shows a blank terminal GNU nano 2.2.6 screen
Any body can direct me to How to configure WiFi and or Ethernet for Picuntu .

Can you see the Interface?

Open terminal and type iwconfig to see if there's a WLAN device there.

Hi Hans,

I have the same problem as you had.
After the message
"Probe gc2035_front_2 failed" and
"DWC_OTG Portpower off"
I get

/bin/sh: can’t access tty: job control turned off

I tried your method (reflashing the MK802 iiis while the SD card is inserted).
Unfortunately it does not work.
I still see the same error message

I tried to see what the response of the device is by pulling the external wifi connector, SD card and/or external mouse.
The device recognises that hardware is changed.

Can anybody help??

Thanks a lot in advance!

This error usually happens when the sd card is not correctly created so the system thinks there's no filesystem. Try again to create the image. Maybe download the image file again and reflash it to the card.
Also.. It makes no difference whether the sd card is in the device when you flash the kernel to the device.

Dear Andy,

following your instruction and using your kernel and SD image I successfully installed Picuntu home://io on my MK802 III. I have found internal WiFi not working but I succeeded connecting using an external WiFi dongle.
My problem now is related to an old issue regarding USB camera grab errors with different softwares like Chesse (segmentation fault on startup) and guvcview (error dequeing buffer: Wrong parameter -> each frame grab).
Since this capability is very important for me I would like to solve this problem as soon as possible. Are there any test I could perform?

Thank you Andy
I typed iwconfig
some script showed up : lo no wireless extension ect.
result: wlan1 unassociated
I also tried again
nano -w /etc/network/interfaces (This is where you add your Network SSID and Password) and it showed on wlan1
Sorry about my total Linux commands ignorance but I am learning
Any further suggestions

Picuntu for MK802III dual boot and SD card flashing method

Postby Hans » Tue Aug 20, 2013 4:16 pm

Questions relates to Rikomagic MK802III 4g/8g

Question 1
andykirby wrote:
Flashing this firmware will erase the Android OS on your device

Every time something goes wrong, the android OS is erased
To recover, I reflashed the stock rom with the internal two pin short method, followed by the install of Finless rom 1.7
This is somewhat cumbersome.
Is there any way, in windows PC with the use of "win32diskimager", to flash a Picuntu image to a SD card ? for use in a double boot configuration
IF affirmative what image should I use to flash on to the SD card

Question 2
Is the linux kernel in the recovery partition generic,or does it needs to be matched to a particular version of a Picuntu image, configuration and or RK3066 device?

System works great with my MK802 III. :-)

What's the best way to get linux-headers-3.0.8+ installed on this install in order to compile modules? I'm trying to compile Asterisk from source (to get latest Google Voice compatibility) and unable to get headers installed.

I've downloaded picuntu-3.0.8-alok kernel source and did "make headers_install" , but still unable to compile dahdi-linux-complete due to "You do not appear to have the sources for the 3.0.8+ kernel installed." error.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

**Issue resolved. :-) Don't need dahdi or libpri so no need to worry.
