MK802IVLE - Ubuntu update to 13.10 Nag

Postby rodonn » Fri May 16, 2014 11:06 pm

Simple question - does taking the LE to 13.10 (or even 14.04 LTS) break anything?
I'm loathe to risk breaking the install, especially in view of lack of easily available img restore. Is it possible to back up what's on the stick?

Hi, you can update no problem but it will remove the current window manager gnome-fallback-session
This manager will not work with anything above 13.04 (Ubuntu bug) and so you will have to install xubuntu desktop (sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop) to get a working desktop again.

I've got to the stage that I got it to console session (ctrl-alt-F1) and installed the other desktop manager. If I run startx I just get a black screen, but can dump it from TTY.
What config changes to I have to make to get the new desktop working?
Thanks.

Hi, if you did the 13.10 upgrade and then install xubuntu-desktop and reboot, it should start up automatically
