FTDI Virtual Com Port

Postby look4terry » Tue Aug 05, 2014 6:05 pm

HI,

Just got my MK802IV LE and it is running fine. I need to talk to a device that uses an FTDI chip. Typically it creates a virtual com port at /dev/ttyUSB0, but I don't see it. It is listed in the lsusb output. Does the kernel have the FTDI virtual com port driver enabled? If not, can I do that? I believe it is running picuntu.

Ok, so, after further study, it looks like the FTDI serial to USB device needs a driver compiled into the kernel. The intel distributions have it already there.

Can I build a kernel that has it turned on? Are there special configurations for the MK802IV?

Will someone who already builds kernels do it for me? It looks pretty involved doing it right?

Thanks,

Terry
