That's strange, considering the PS3's USB ports are used to recharge the controllers. Weird.

recharging batteries is different then trying to power something. i would imagine it has the voltage but not the amperage to run the 802.

Didn't even think about that. Good point.

Hi, thanks for all the replies.

I used the mk802 powered over USB all over the weekend and had no problems playing games and watching movies (720p, very smooth). My TV is a Sony Bravia kdl-40ex505.

I'm currently using firmware rev 2. So, it really seems safe to use the USB to power it.

I'd the same issue, and fixed it by replacing a better USB cable.

Nope, at least not from the manufacturer.

I have my Rikomagic MK802IIIS powered using the TV's USB, however, I am concerned about not powering off the MK802 properly.

When I turn on the TV, the USB gets powered which starts the MK802 - brilliant!
When I turn off the TV, the USB stops being powered and the MK802 shuts down immediately which I believe, it could provoke corrupt file and damage to Android OS.

How do you get over this problem?

Thank you,
