Display doesn't work

Postby vlf » Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:09 am

Hello, first sorry for my English.

I just received my MK802, but when I plug it, nothing happens.
My screen does not detect hardware connected to it.

I try to reset the firmware by following these steps:

everything went well, but still nothing on the screen.

I also test with another HDMI cable, but nothing.

Do you have an idea?

Hi there,

Have you tried another screen?

Try cycling the power over and over again to see if you can get it to at least fire up once.

I have seen this problem before, I suspect a possible hardware fault. Where did you purchase from?

yes I have tested on different screens, but nothing changes.

I reboot several times, no change either.

I bought it on http://www.aliexpress.com

How did you resolve the problem, return to vendor?

Unfortunately yes I think you will have to return it to the Rikomagic Aliexpress store for a replacement under warranty.

I remember this problem rearing its ugly head on a test sample I had, it was the same problem but it was intermittent. Sometimes the device would output video and other times not...and other times it would freeze with funny patterns on the display. Thats why I suggested keep trying to see if it might be the same issue. I know that QC measures have now been taken to avoid this problem but sometimes like all electronics products you can sometimes get a "bad" one. The Aliexpress store is very good though and they will replace it for you just send them a message.

Anyway I ended up fixing that particular Mk802 by searching for suspect dry joints on the PCB and resoldering them. Its still going today with no problems since!

I will probably order another one because with the customs fees, I will almost pay the price for a new one.

And unfortunately I do not have the hardware to view the PCB properly.

Thank you for your help anyway.
