Model Number/Build Number survey

Postby mvrk80 » Sat Nov 17, 2012 9:01 pm

Hello everyone, this is my first post in this forum as my friends bought me a MK802+ (I think it's the + as I have 1 GB of ram, 2 usb and female hdmi).
First of all I had to immediately mod my machine bc the antenna caused a so strong interference that the connection was incredibly slow or totally absent, and depending on the anntenna's position inside the case, sometimes The MK802 didn't boot at all.
The operation has been simple, as my antenna was a little different from what i saw from the pics in the web: it is not a simple wire dipole, it is a metal cilinder inside a black rubber insulation, now the wifi is stable and fast (average speed on the web is 5Mbit/s).
Let me attach 2 pics of the result of my work :)

My model number is AK-MINI-PC-003
My Build Number is Crane-hractp-eng 4.0.3 IML74K 20120525 test-keys
So in effect it is a 003 model (i saw pple with 002 and 001 anybody know the differences?) with a firmware of 25th may (a no-more-available very old version?).
I wanted to choose the best firmware, but I don't want to erase my 25-05-2012 version, as i never saw it downloadable anywhere.

Even if I see in the forum there are 2 rikomagic official firmware releases, I could see a lot of different model and build number out there, so i'm a bit confused.
The version in rikomagic website should be 8th june (Rev1) and 10th July (Rev2) if i'm not wrong, but the second one change totally the model (it becomes a Softwiner Evb) and the build number too (it becomes a apollo_tvdevb-eng 4.0.4 IMM76D 20120710 test-keys).

What's inside your MK802 ? It would be interesting to know the Mnumber and BNumber of your machines, how do you like them, and if some other versions of the 'official' firmware (like mine) are available.

ok...
not really a big involvment..
anyway i found a way to reactivate the display menu in the settings. It's necessary to install an app, 'ultimate rotation control' and force all settings to the orizontal layout.
The display settings will start working without crash and other applications also won't rotate the screen in vertical mode.
Hope this will be helpful

a little correction to my last message: it's necessary also to use a widget (i.e. widgetsoid) and set the screen timeout in order for the display settings to go back to work properly

hi,
ive got the same mini tv stick as you AK-MINI-PC-003. I can't install iplayer or catchup tv due to message saying the os is too old. Is there a newer one I can upgrade to from the same crane ... test keys as you had in your last post? -presumably using phoenix card tool?
thanks

actually i changed OS, i'm using the Uberoid v1.1
It has some minor bug, but all fixable in easy way... i think it's the best OS available for this device, it has not hangs, full market support, it is fully rooted, supports some external webcams and also mic if you install the google voice app.
You can find it on the techknow forum.
PS: I had to mod the case to fix the antenna interferences and to add an heatsink. Now it's a great device.
