Will this device be able to upgrade to future versions of Android?

Hi all,

when I imaged an SD card with the rikomagic linux image( ... magicuk.7z) using dd on the mac I rebooted the mk802II and it said the same problem as this guy got: "SD card may be damaged".

Can anyone advise:

  • does the SD card need to be a specific format before you run dd?
  • is there a way to checksum the SD card so I can confirm it has the right data installed? (perhaps extracting the image back out of the SD card using DD then running md5 on it? )
  • What is the md5 hash of the image above? I would like to confirm its come down correctly.

I then used WinDiskImager to burn the image into the SD. But when inserted into the MK802II, the device booted into the current Android and a "SD card may be damaged" is shown in the notification bar.

i am a newbie of this world.
i really wonder to know stg about this device
here is my thought: i have 1.5tb, 500gb, 500gb hdd's and thinking to buy a new 3tb one.
and than i've learned "nas" thing. if you buy a hdd with nas you should see hdd on the home net. this was revolutionary i thought.
and than when i was surfing on the internet i saw mk802. this is inspiring... very interesting.. made me happy... and i thougt that if i can use this device for my nas!'ssing porject.
this is what i want to do: seeing all hdd's on both my laptop and (without plugging it to my laptop) open movies on them in my hd tv at that time... so i can download a new movie from wireless connection to my hdd and i can reach that new movie from my couch without any extra cable connectioning or stg else...
if you say anything about this issue i will be very happy...
thank you...

Quite interesting

One fellow had asked is there an app to control the mk802 from phone

Yes droidmote

What about heat (especially in light of the higher clock)? Is it really enough power
this from a single USB cable (at 0.5amp)? Is the included micro-usb to usb cable "hot" -- i.e. can run in host mode?

Hey why didn't post some more info ? You should give some more and some photo as well for our clear conception.
