"Magic" is the key word to boot Linux on MK802 A10s.
These programmers at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/linux-sunxi/-HfHG-yyCVs
are already three months trying to write code for Linux boot the A10S. You can watch how it develops.

MK802 Allwinner A10s
A10 changed to A10s since October 23. 2012.

- A10s chip physically size reduced by 75%
- overheating of A10s reduced by 25%
- removed circuits for 3D Rendering and 3D support inside A10s chip
- removed circuits for 2160p video support inside A10s Allwinner
- some math instructions removed
- reduced power consumption
- more stability
- Linux versions for MK802 A10 are incompatible with MK802 A10s

I think you could try "short circuit method" to update firmware. check my post here http://www.rikomagic.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5149. there is also link to 1.6 firmware.
