Questions about MK802

Postby rob203zob » Thu May 31, 2012 2:59 pm

I just had some questions about the device before I make the purchase.

1) Does it come with bluetooth? If not, can I plug a usb bluetooth adapter to the device and will it work?
2) Are you able to plug a USB hub to it? Also, if you plug a USB hub to it how many devices can you plug into the device?
3) What is the maximum hard drive size that this device can read? I have a portable 3TB drive and I would love to take this stick to my friends house and just plug in my hard drive and play movies.

Thank you in advance :)

Hi and welcome to the forum!

In answer to your questions:

1. The MK802 does not have bluetooth. You could add a dongle but I'm unsure at this stage whether this would require drivers. If the reason you need bluetooth is for connecting a Bluetooth keyboard it maybe less hassle to grab a wireless keyboard with trackpad like the Logitech K400 which has its own wireless link (dongle) so it just appears to the MK802 like a standard HID.

2. Yes you can connect a hub, but you will need a powered one if you intend to connect quite a few devices.

3. The MK802 should read any size hard drive but I know this can be a bit hit and miss with android so we'll have to test that out and let you know!

I just would like to ask you a few things:

- There is no physical switch on in the MK802, so how do you on it everytime?

- Is it possible to control it by remote android apps from a mobile or a tablet, instead of a wireless mouse. like Remote RDP?

- Will the firmware be open to let the people cook customized ones?

Thanks in advance

Once it is plugged into a power source (either via AC adapter or from a powered USB connection) it boots. It shuts down when it is disconnected ... not very graceful, unless someone knows a better way to shutdown (such as a script or something).

I've tested two different USB hubs. Works for me :-)

USB Mouse und keyboard works.

Western Digital HD (1TB) works (with power adapter).

I've tested some Shutdown widget Apps without any success. :-/
