PLEASE HELP with ethernet speeds

Postby jeremy.airey » Sat Feb 23, 2013 12:39 pm

Hi Chaps
MK802ii running 4.0.4
Wifi stability and speeds still a nightmare so bought a usb ethernet wired adapter dongle.
Turned off wifi - plugged in dongle/cable -enabled ethernet - DHCP on - bingo! - everything connects fine and stable.
Ran speedtest and best over three days and 20 or so tests got between 0.7 and around 3.1 with most around the 1.7mbs mark.
Tested other wireles and wired connections and get over 10 mbs everytime on windows xp,7,vista and linux puppy systems.
Loaded drivers onto laptops for usb dongle and cut wifi and tested dongle speeds on 2 laptops and got 5-7mbs on both - plugged cable into laptops ethernet sockets and shoots up to 10 plus mbs. Strangely also got 1o plus on an old android 1.9 tablet using it's 30 pin usb/ethernet connector.
Now the cd that came with the dongle had a folder on it called 'Android' in which is a 'tar' file which I presume contains the drivers specific to this dongle for android. How do I install these drivers on mk802ii?
I need more speed so I can watch streaming video.
Finally why are speeds such rubbish on this device?
regards
Jeremy

Hi AdainairII

You could of couse be rightso here's the 'specs':JP1082 NO:030818 what it does below Network Speed: 10Mbps/100Mbps
Connectors: 1 x USB Male, 1 x RJ-45 shielded jack
Integrated Fast Ethernet MAC
Physical Chip and transceiver in one chip
Supports 10 Mb/s and 100 Mb/s N-Way Auto-negotiation operation
Compliant to USB interface Version 1.0/1.1/2.0
Support all USB Standard commands
Supports Suspend / Resume detection logic
Supports 4 endpoints
1.1 control endpoint with maximum 8-byte packet
2.1 bulk IN endpoint with 54 bytes / packet
3.1 bulk out endpoint with 64 bytes / packet
4.1 interrupt in endpoint with 8 bytes / packet
18k bytes SRAM built in
Supports full duplex Flow Control (IEEE 802.3x)

It does work with the 'native' drivers just not very well. :( so what am I doing wrong?
So please how do I install the drivers on the cd which came with it which are in a 'tar.gz' file
Is there an app which does this automatically sort of like the windows installer?
If this isn't the right one which one is?

again thanks

Hi Jeremy
Sorry i can't help you with drivers, try on XDA or buy this:
Code: Select all
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/APPLE-DESKTOP-NEW-USB-2-0-RJ45-ETHERNET-LAN-CARD-/190607663688?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D5822365268985030218%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D190607663688%26

Works with both my device Uhost2 and MK 802 II.
Good luck

Is the one I get (Chipset ASIX AX88772), but I keep having speed issue. With an intense network traffic (es. transfer of big file) speed falls down and then the whole system hangs up.
The new drivers should solve the problem, but I'm not able to compile the source. Here's the latest drivers: http://www.asix.com.tw/FrootAttach/driv ... Source.zip
Any help?
