Ok, it seems I was wrong. The original MK802III firmware seems to have the CPU frequency locked to max 1.2ghz (even though it says it can scale up to 1.6ghz), so 1.6ghz indeed seems to be an overclock which might require a heatsink...

I just flashed my new mk802iiis to finless 1.7 rom. I used the default rom with the package. I have now lost use of both wifi and blue tooth. When enabled they just turn back off. Does anybody know a fix. I updated my device from factory firmware because all HD video skips. I have tried everything from xbmc, sbpkayer, mx player all with harware accl. Multiple file formats, 5v 2a ps, local storage, everything suggested here. Nothing fixes hd video playback, now no wifi either.

the 1.6GHz is a marketing white lie that actually refers to 1.2GHz for the CPU + 400MHz for the GPU

I wonder if that would be successful, too.
