Official ROM with 1080p support

Postby Wolfsteen » Fri Feb 22, 2013 7:07 pm

Hi all, especially to Rikomagic,
I can´t believe that there´s no official ROM with 1080p support.
Now I use Finless ROM. This custom ROM is fast, stable and support 1080p resolution.
Developers from Rikomagic is not able to do this too!? :(

It is frustrating indeed. 1080p support is advertised in the MK802 iii technical specs, so it should be working out of the box.
What's also perplexing, is that every single review, and I've read a few before ordering, had missed that rather important detail.

Does anyone know if 1080p support is even in the works?

1080p is supported as a screen mode, the video output is actually 1920x1080p only thing is the android OS is up scaled.

The finless ROM gives access to a true 16:9 resolution at an appropriate PPI which suits a 1920x1080 resolutions much better.

At Rikomagic there are concerns over how small the interface appears when running in proper 16:9 1080p which makes it tiny on most TV's.

I've brought this up with the technical team in china before. Actually it would be good to be able to switch between these modes properly from settings.
Something for the to do list.

Thanks for your input Andy. Can you elaborate on the following:

1. If 1080p is supported as a screen mode, why doesn't it work?

2. If one needs the Finless ROM to get 1920x1080, doesn't that contradict your previous statement?

PS: Since you've been in touch with the tech team, perhaps you could also suggest they stop advertising 1080p support, as it just doesn't work out of the box.
