Can't turn on Ethernet option

Postby scobo » Tue Jun 11, 2013 10:27 am

Just bought an Ethernet adapter but when I go into settings and turn on Ethernet it switches back off by itself after a couple of seconds.
Any ideas folds ?

Just a cheap one of ebay with clear blue plastic casing but I've read elsewhere that it should work with the TV sticks.
Does the ethernet option revert back to "off" if the usb adapter isn't compatible ?

It has been my experience that when you turn on Ethernet and your adapter is working it should pop up with an IP address almost immediately.

I had one apparently defective adapter that would show a mac address but would never obtain an IP address. An identical adapter worked just fine.

If you do turn on Ethernet and get it to work it would probably be wise to turn of WiFi.

Last night I found an Android folder on the driver CD containing a file which is presumably a driver for Android.
Is there a way to install this to the TV stick ?

This ethernet adapter works well for me:
http://www.geekbuying.com/item/High-Spe ... 14264.html

The blue ones seem to be tricky, they often don't work, no clue why some do and some don't. Additionally the blue ones are "USB2 full speed" which is nice talk for "USB1 12mbit". If they do work on android, the performance is limited to less than 10mbit. The above mentioned adapter is "USB2 highspeed 480mbit", which real USB2 speed. I can get the full 100mbit/sec through the above mentioned adapter.

Ok, so I bought one of these ... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 1158294848 and it worked first time with zero configuration.
100% plug and play, excellent !
