How to upgrade MK802III to 4.2.2?

Postby thisisit » Mon Aug 19, 2013 11:32 pm

I didn't find any instructions...
My MK802III does NOT have a OTG port, only DC (micro USB) and Host (USB), so how to make connections?

Thanks

I gona try this:

How do I install this?

Use Windows machine, Download picuntu-4.5-nand-complete.zip. Unzip at any location.
Click on rk_flash_1.37--> RKAndroidtool.exe
At this time you need to get the device in bootloader mode. Use a pin to press the button on the device (this is explained on the forums) or run reboot bootloader in android.

Hi. I've just started playing with a Rikomagic MK802III and found it hard-going (probably because I'm a Windows user!).

Firstly, your OTG port is the DC micro USB socket. You will however need an OTG cable, micro USB-full size USB, in order to get it to work.

You'll also need the drivers on your PC. You can get those from the main support download page http://www.rikomagic.co.uk/support.html (direct download link here: http://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/6eitc2). Install those first before you plug it into the PC.

If you want to get Android 4.2.2 onto your stick, the only repeatable, successful way I've been able to do it is with the stock Rikomagic update which can be found here: http://www.rikomagic.co.uk/support.html just make sure that you scroll passed the MK802IIIS, unless that's the model you've got (Direct download of the 4.2.2 firmware is here http://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/trppob).

Once you've downloaded that zip, go into the Batch tool+driver v 1.7\BatchTool folder and run RKBatchTool. Click the ... button at the top and select the MK802III_131108.img file which will be in the root of the unzipped folder.

To put the stick into a flashable mode, you'll need to grab a pin or paperclip and press-down on the tiny button that's inside the case whilst you power it on. It's accessed via the single hole in the case on top, to the right of the ridges and after the text, towards the HDMI plug. You have to hold this down for 5 seconds as you plug the OTG lead into a computer. If you've done this correctly, the Rockchip Batch Tool v1.7 will show a green box under Connected Devices 1. At this point you can click the Upgrade button then sit back - after a few minutes you should find that your stick's rebooted and is now happily rocking Android 4.2.2 :D
