Ad-Hoc network

Postby Padu » Fri Jul 18, 2014 7:35 am

Does anybody tried to create a wifi network in ad-hoc mode?

I'm trying to control the device from a mobile and I need it to create a wifi network.

When I try
iwconfig wlan0 mode ad-hoc it returns

Code: Select all
picuntu@g8picuntu:~$ sudo iwconfig wlan0 mode ad-hoc
Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not permitted.

Does it means that the network card is not capable of being in ad-hoc mode? It would be fine also to have it in Access-Point mode

I think that the wifi chipset used by the MK802iv is the Broadcom AP6210. How can I check that the correct driver is used?

I've realized that the error is the same whatever the mode I choose

Does anybody knows how to know which driver am I using? And additionally how to change it to have the Ad-Hoc or AccessPoint mode?

I have the same problem with my MK902LE.
using "iw list" I can see that AP mode is supported but I cannot manage to activate de hotspot.
Did you find a solution ?
